Maker and Morna
A High Morna craftsman born to the slopes of Bratha, Tarran is known for steady hands and a sharper tongue. He mends what others would replace, shaping and refining with a mind for both function and feel. His designs hold through weather and wear alike, and his advice—when you can bear to hear it—usually stands just as firm.
Temperament
Opinionated and exacting, Tarran speaks only once he’s measured every side of a matter. When he does, his words come like a well-built lintel: solid, balanced, difficult to shift. Cynical by habit, he trusts what can be weighed or tested. Talk of omens or magic he brings back to the tangible; “that’s a current shift, not sorcery.” Yet beneath that skepticism lies the Morna’s deep loyalty to his own; he’ll argue them breathless and then fix their tools without a word.
Community and Kin
Among the High Morna, Tarran’s judgement carries weight. He debates tirelessly at Reels – the long discussions where the Morna test their prophecies and their patience alike – questions elders without offence, and trains the younger craftspeople who wander up the ridge to learn from him. His apprentice, Cullag, endures long lectures and harder lessons but calls him fair. Tarran’s brother lives further along Bratha, a presence that still sets his jaw when mentioned.
Ways and Work
He keeps a summer workshop cut into the granite flank of Karn, where he sleeps as often as in the communal halls. It’s littered with projects half-finished and ideas half-proven—gears, braces, and tools re-tied with his own stubborn knotting. To outsiders he can seem solitary, but those who’ve sat by his fire know better. He belongs to the Steeps as roots belongs to tree: unshowy, enduring, and always thinking of the next repair.
