“Folklore is not what we remember — it is what remembers us.”

Lineia Avenloré walks the threshold between memory and myth. As Matriarch of the Ethnarium — the branch of the House of Scholars devoted to folklore and cultural knowledge — she treats stories not as relics but as living things: shifting, breathing, growing in the dark. Where others dismiss hearth-magic and seasonal rites, Lineia listens.

She is the only child of Nyrelith Avenloré and Venn, both now passed. Nyrelith — a reserved scholar with a quiet blaze of conviction — served as Matriarch before her, teaching Lineia that folklore is not entertainment but inheritance. Venn, her other parent, was an ethnographic steward known for their deep kindness and fieldwork among the lesser fae. Between them, Lineia learned both precision and compassion — and she carries them still, quoting them often in council, her voice threading affection through authority.

Her bond with her husband Tavian brings a softer light to her life. Though he does not walk the halls of the Library with her, he understands its weight — and he is her sanctuary from it. His presence nurtures the warmth in her that might otherwise be buried beneath expectation. They laugh often. Tavian’s stories, vivid and ridiculous, remind her that joy is its own form of knowledge — and it is not uncommon to find them walking together in the woods, his hands moving wildly as he speaks, her head tilted back in laughter.

Though Lineia’s path is laced with formality and burden, she moves with quiet strength, the rhythm of her work set to the beat of old tales and remembered love.
